Operational Railway Risk Training

Since 2001, we have been appointed as Network Rail's Signal Overrun Risk Assessment (SORA) technical authority. As part of our service, we are the sole training provider for the process and carry out competence verifications on all newly trained assessors throughout the industry.
The Network Rail Company Standard was introduced in 2002 in response to the need to meet the requirements of the Railway Group Standard GI/RT 7006 – Prevention and Mitigation of Overruns – Risk Assessment.

The mandated approach within the Company Standard introduces a consistent methodology, which is to be used across the entire Network Rail controlled railway network. This will be the only acceptable Signal Overrun Risk Assessment (SORA) procedure. A central feature of the Company Standard is the specifically developed quantitative tool (the SAT) whereby a hierarchy of individual signal risk may be established.
This is followed by a Detailed Assessment (DA) workshop for higher ranked signals.
We offer a 2-day training course on using the Signal Assessment Tool (SAT) & a 1-day training course on facilitating a Detailed Assessment (DA) workshop.
This course is essential for anyone who is given the responsibility to carry out signal
overrun risk assessments.
